Before purchasing a security system, you should be aware of such things
as:
Contract conditions
Quality of equipment
Location
of monitoring
Length/conditions
of warranty
Make sure your security provider can answer the following questions appropriately:
1) Has the company left you a copy of their contract? All reputable companies will provide copies of their contract. Do not rely on what the salesperson tells you verbally; insist on seeing it in writing.
2) Do you own or lease the security system?
Carleton does not lease security systems. You own the system.
3) How long is the warranty and what does it cover; parts or labour or
both?
Carleton offers several warranty options. All Carleton warranties cover
parts and labor.
4) Will there be any minimum service charges while under warranty?
Carleton will not charge you any minimum service charges (on warranty
items).
a) NO deductible charge.
b) NO appointment fees.
c) NO vehicle charges.
5) Is the monitoring station U.L.C. listed?
Carleton’s monitoring station is a U.L.C. listed station.
6) Can the monitoring charges be increased during the term of the contract?
Carleton guarantees that the monitoring rate will remain the same for
the term of the contract.
7) Will false alarm assessments charged by the Police department be covered?
All Carleton customers are serviced by a security guard service. If the
alarm was caused by equipment malfunciton there is no charge for the service
proviced by the security guard. If the security guard,upon responding
to an alarm contacts the police to attend the premises there is no charge
for either the response by the police or the response by the security
guard.
8) Is the company a member of the Better Business Bureau?
Carleton has been a BBB accredited business since 1992. Carleton's BBB
rating is A plus. Carleton is also Ottawa's only Digital Security Controls
(DSC) Partner Company which ensures Carleton customers remain on the cutting
edge of new technology.
9) For how long does the monitoring term renew itself?
After the initial term the agreement renews itself for a period of one
(1) year, unless requested otherwise in writing.
10) What if you move away?
Carleton has a "Move Away Program" which offers many incentives
to remaining a Carleton customer.
11) Would you be charged to any changes made to the system programming
or changes to pass lists etc...?
As your lifestyle changes, you may need to have the programming of your
system changed to meet your needs. Carleton will change your programming,
pass lists, etc., for you at any time at no charge.*
